Carbonated drinks contain Carbon Dioxide.
The theory is that the carbon dioxide in a freshly opened bottle tries to escape quickly. When you drop the mentos in, the mentos acts like a "lauching pad", enabling the gas to spurt out instantaneously. All the gas (concentrated) bursting out at this point causes the explosion.

No, not at all. It'll shoot fizz real high due to the reaction of the chemicals. Mixing the two, however, will certainly not kill anyone - it's only an informed rumour.
Hope this helps + enjoy the video.

There is no way that's true. Cola and mentos together makes an explosion in the soda bottle though...I have seen it done it Tech. Ed. back in middle school! (a few years ago.) haha.

I don't know if it will kill you, but it causes bottles of diet coke to explode. If you mix them together inside your stomach you could do serious damage. The guys I've seen do it on internet videos immediately become very sick and start vomiting violently and having diarrhea.

Mmm... I guess it won't realli kill you unless you take large amount of mentos and coke at one time. Maybe just a bad stomach reaction which can send you rushing to the toliet to puke...
