Also.... An inadequate amount of RAM could be the cause as well as multi-tasking while burning CD's.
"Burning on the fly" could be another cause as well as the CD reader being on the same IDE channel as the CD burner.
What am I trying to say? There are many many causes.

There is more numbers you have to look at. 52X is the top read speed, not the write speed.

when you burn cd, you need to consider the speed of cd you are using. and how fast you set its speed.

check your burning software. reinstall if needed. if that still doesn't fix the the problem , go to your drives manufactures website and download new firmware (like software but its on the drive itself). if that still doesn't fix it consider a new drive.

U SHOULD CHECK ITS SPEED WHILE BURNING. IF IT DOES NOT WORK THEN TRY TO REINSTALL UR SOFTWARE.THIS SHOULD WORK.
