Ahoy!

The effects of the rise of Frankish Kingdoms on the development of Europe are so pervasive, one might well ask oneself, what WEREN'T the effects of this historical development.

I would argue that the traditions launched with the Franks resulted, eventually, in the formation of European nation-states that would come to provide the model for much of western society.

Of course, there were missteps--The Crusades, anyone?

The main effect was the protection of Europe from muslim invasion. It was the Franks under Charles Martel who beat them off. The latter attempt to recover lands lost to the invaders (Crusades) was not succesfull, or partially succesful (Reconquista) but at least it slowed down the pace of the invasion.
Essentially the Franks made Western Europe as it is today
