a. occurs during prophase

Frnd i searched thr internet and got it as...It occurs during premeiotic interphase.

Its necessary in both the case as genetic characters do transfer in both the process.

Before cell division the cell has to prepare for the actual event. Since one of the activities during division is the distribution of genetic material, the cell therefore has to synthesize DNA prior to mitosis/meiosis. DNA synthesis cannot be done during actual division, since the chromosomes would be highly coiled and the DNA which is a component of the chromosomes, would be kept unavailable for synthesis.

It occurs during S phase of the cell cycle.
figure out which of your answers most closely relates to S phase and you'll have your answer.
