Full of questions aren't we? Anyways, Britain is a little lower then us, probably the second or third most powerful nation in the world.

They have been less "powerful" militarily since the World War I era, even moreso after WWII. Gradually, the British Empire has become more show than substance.

But it shouldn't matter, the alliance between the UK and USA is probably the strongest between any two countries, not to say that it it will be everlasting or that other Nations could form alliances.

It is the commonality of the two which runs deeper than other potential alliances simply don't have. The geography of the USA also offers a degree of protection but not nearly as much as had been true 50 years ago.

Theoretically, the USA may have the power to destroy other countries but application of that power would be the beginning of their end. The USA and UK share a joint responsibility to help less fortunate countries but it's very frustrating when the internal strife in several of these stands in the way of the quest for power.

For those who pereceive China as a potential world leader, yes, they've made substantial gains but these also rely on having the USA as a trading partner.

For all the glitz and glitter, you have to go there to see the real China, they have a very long road ahead of them as does India. Population has more disadvantages in a truly robust country that needs to provide for their own before taking on the rest of the FREE World.

Hmmm... population of 60 million vs. 300 million.... They don't have a lot more space to grow, and we do....

Short answer, no.

Only way that would ever happen is some doomsday scenario and the U.S. population and/or economy is decimated. It's also hard to top our military when we outspend all the other countries in the world combined.

The future as I see it has China at number one with India and Russia on its coattails, the EU at number two and the US at a very lonely and marginalized number 3.
