I can't boil the bottles because I'd be worried about the integrity of the plastic. I've read that alcohol should be used. I assume that's rubbing alcohol. Do I rinse it afterward to get the smell of alcohol out, or is the alcohol supposed to evaporate dry? Should I dilute the rubbing alcohol in water (distilled water maybe?) in a tub big enough to dip the plastic bottles in? What percentage should the alcohol be to still be sterilizing?

Any tips? :)

Go to a liquor store and purchase grain alcohol, one brand is Everclear, this is the type of alcohol you want to use in food prep NOT rubbing alcohol. In the United States, Everclear is a brand of grain alcohol (ethanol), available at concentrations of 95% alcohol (190 proof) and 75.5% (151 proof). By contrast, hard liquors such as rum and vodka generally contain 40% alcohol (80 proof). Dont dilute it, use full strength. No need to rinse out the containers with water after using this alcohol as it is flavorless and impurity free it will just evaporate.

How To Sterilize Plastic Bottles

Don't use rubbing alcohol because it eats away at plastic. The last 2 answers make sense. I had a doctor tell me that the dishwasher was the best sterilizer because the water is so hot.

use vodka, then you can use it to make facial fresheners or perfume. it evaporates quickly, if you use rubbing alchol dont dilute it. i would simply pour some in the bottle and swish about but i would use the alcohol straight.
