tommy vercetti is from vice city which is set in the 80's and the character in gta 3 is claude, it even says so in the strategy guide of san andreas. i can bet lots of money his name is claude.

He's not Tommy Vercetti. Tommy lives in the 70's GTA is set in the mid 90's so he should have aged a bit if that were him...
Anyway, if you've played GTA SA, the character of GTA actually cameos during one of the missions (the one where you race through the countryside).. can't remember if his name was mentioned... but you race against him though! He even wears the same outfit! :P

Tommy Vercetti is his name, you can hear it several times in GTA 3 and GTA 3 Vice city
