This is NOT a stupid question. Think about what I'm asking. I want conversation, not judgement!

There is a reason why I ask... this is for a book, please give me your honest answers. You might get quoted if you're willing to give permission too!

If the pet rock could talk, I think it would pour its heart out to me, since you didn't say it wanted to listen. I would be interested in where it came from, what it has seen, how it feels to be put in straw, closed in a box and sold as a novelty, and what its plans are for the future. Then we would discuss if it would be happier in the woods, a stream, or a flowerbed, and see about helping it acheive that goal.

I would probably intially be more interested in what my pet rock's life as a rock as like. Is he an immortal? Does he remember rolling down a volcano as lava thousands of years ago and landing at the feet of a dinosaur?

Did he sink to the bottom of the ocean when God flooded the earth and only Noah's Ark floated above water?

Is he alone? Are there other rocks like him? Has he loved? Has he lost a loved one? Does he have a family?

After that, I would most definately talk to the rock if we became close.

Why would I talk to a talking rock when I could just talk to a person? Are we to assume that this rock doesn't judge or doesn't think? And if so, then why does it even need to talk if it's not going to offer me any valuable feedback or sincere consolation. I think it would just be better off as a rock.

So no, I wouldn't bother pouring my heart out to a talking rock. I'd just call up a friend or my mom.

i'm going to place it next to Lola, our lazy parrot. She's so lazy that she would not communicate if no person is touching her or giving her interest. She talks to the telephone whilst it rings... besides lazy, she's soooo ineffective, that thinks anybody is fullyyt for Her. A puppy rock like that would resolve this drama in our abode.

now that all depends on if my pet rock was a nice.. err.. thing. if it was a jerk when it talked, now i wouldn't pour my heart out to it, it would prob just make fun of me or something. but if it was a nice pet rock and listened to me and cared, yeah I might would. I mean why not, if it could talk I might as well talk back to it
