Decision to start a business in not dependent solely on the back of X many years of experience. With 15 years of practical exposure, you yourself would appreciate this aspect. Take a decision also considering all other important issues involved in your case specific. If unable to decide, take expert opinions preferably in person.

If you are feeling confident and comfortable about the same, please go ahead and start your business.
But before taking firm decision, please consider your hobbies, contact network and financial standing. Do something which you may like to do or simply be in financial services space as a businessman.
I was a banker for 17 years and then at the age of 39 I resigned to start something on my own. Am struggling but reasonably successful. But overall am happy.
