Borrow the money or use a credit card. With the money you make at work in one day, you should be able to fill up your gas tank at least once or twice.

No. It is not your employer's problem that you don't have money to buy gas. Take public transportation or ask at work if anyone can carpool with you if you both live in the same general area. If you are having trouble paying for the high gas prices, then others at your work are likely having the same problems. Good luck and start thinking of some alternatives. I doubt that the prices are going down anytime soon!

NO. Chances are when you were hired, on the application you were asked whether or not you had reliable transportation. Chances are that you replied with a "yes" because you did. The company that you work for is probably not going to care whether you can afford gas or not. You have to realize that even though most people think that companies that they work for have a human side, most of them do, and the price of gas is probably killing them more than it is you

You could masybe get away with that ONCE if it was like a day or 2 away from your next paycheck but do it more than that and you'd get fired. They'll ask you what you're wasting your paychecks on. Gas prices may be up but it's not like they've risen by $10. It's only gone up on average of $0.40-$1.00 so it's a pretty poor excuse.

I am a manager, and I just let some one go today because she missed so many days. When I asked her on the exit interview why she missed so many days, she admitted due to high gas prices. I sympathize, but when I hire someone - I am hiring them to show up and work.

When you have a job, its not the employers responsibility to get you there. If you can't come to work, that employer will be forced to find somebody who can be there. They have a business to run. I would limit how much driving i do for personal fun, and save the gas to make sure i can get to work.

I think you should just ask for more hours so you can afford the gas.Its not the job's or your fault that the gas prices keep going up.Yes, you might get away with it once but that's about it and might even get wrote up[if they do that at your job].So i would advise you not to call out for that reason. You need to save your call outs for emergencies only.

Of course not!. You can take the bus to an area where you can walk the rest of it. That's the way to be poor. And you are poor because you can't afford and you can't afford to lose a job right now either. You can ask for people who you can carpool with. There are so many solutions to these simple problem of yours. You can apply for other job close by your house, then you don't have to drive, even it is different kind of work. Or you can move close to your place of work if it really worth it. (I mean, your salary is so big, you have to move close by).
