Goto http://www.linksys.com and find the manual for the model router you have.

The manual will tell you how to set the wireless security, its not hard. If you dont want to setup the security, or cant, then you will be able to see what MAC addresses are connection tou your router in its settings or see what IP addresses the DHCP server in your router is giving out.

All you need is the modem, router and some ethernet cable, that should do it.

To reset the router to the factory settings, there should be a little button on the back that says "reset". Just use an ink pen to hold it in for about 30 seconds, that will reset it.

Then, go to http://192.168.1.1 and enter "admin" as the username. The password will likely be blank or "admin".

You should change the ssid to something other than "linksys" and also make sure to password protect it.

Connecting the router is easy. Just plug the lan cable from the cable modem into the "WAN" spot. If you want to connect a wired network, just run another lan cable from one of the other slots on the back and plug it into the network card on the back of your computer. You won't have to configure anything else for the wired network.

if you want to hook up the wireless network, I would suggest downloading the Linksys manual.

Try the router's web-based utility. Type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar of your internet browser and type "admin" (without quotes) on the password field (no need for username).
