I just looked at your avatar after answering a too long question, please read through it anyway as has some useful info for you. But based on the coloring you chose for avatar, I would say you need a brown pixie lash (and try the scanties, too to be sure and decide yourself). Your hair is light, or reddish so brown is a must. Change the charcoal shade of eyeshadow I mention below to a earth tone say dark brown? (without a shine or glitter, a neutral base without a shimmer)...

If you can't do it right yet, then you probably have nice eyes already and don't need it or you would have already perfected it. That was my situation anyway. It takes practice so do it a few times before that special occasion.

If you want dark smoky eyes, use a charcoal EYESHADOW to line the eyes, again experiment.

It is best to do a line around the eyes above and below... and a little point at the edge. Subtle is best...

If you use a black eyeliner you will resemble Cleopatra, and I beg you not to do that... you will scream 'makeover'. The powder charcoal EYESHADOW acts as a more subtle liner and really provides the smoky look, not the hokey look.

As for day time... you want to do something different, like use a brown LINER soft brown or medium brown... unless your hair is actually black. (in this case, I recommend a false eyelash, as the glue band proides the perfect natural looking liner, used with a black glue). If that is too heave for you during the day, with black hair you will need a black lash, and can use a white glue which dries clear. You can read through my answers to see more details with the false eyelashes.

One falshe eyelash is worth more eyeliner, eyeshadow and masacara combined!. Do not apply a mascara over a false eyelash even though many will say this is ok or encourage it to blend the lashed together, the mascara itself looks totally fake. The eyelashes provide a look you can't get anywhere else, and the liner look you are referring to.

If you want to still wear a liner during day with or without the lashes, then do it on the top only, and you have to wear a matching shade of mascara as eyeliner without mascara is like a skirt without a shirt.

Good luck... (p.s. don't forget to use some brown filler, even lightly really makes your eyes pop!)

It all depends on your eye shape.Just try different ways and see what looks best or the most natural.I wear mine above the top and below the bottom.Make sure its a thin line.Take your eye liner, and use the other hand to pull your eyelid straight or stretched.(so you look Chinese). Then apply as thin and close to the lash as possible. From the inside corner by the nose out to the edge of the eye.For a more dramatic look, apply thicker.I stay away from liquid eyeliner. It tends get in your lashes and peel off.The pencil liner looks much more natural. If you are a blond or redhead use a brown eyeliner and mascara.Good Luck!!

There are many ways to put on eyeliner its just what is best for you and the look you want. If you have small eyes and want to make them look bigger, only put eyeliner on the top lid or on the top and halfway across the bottom. Also, if you have big eyes and want to get that well defined look put it on the top lid and on the inside part of the bottom lid, and if you want to make it smoky , smear it a little with a q tip.

Practice on your hand first. This will allow you to create a fine line. Then apply from the inside of the eye towards the outside.

It depends.. on the bottom you just pull the bottom lash line out and line it with your eyeliner.. softly.. and on the top you just strect your eye out and lighty line your lash line.. lightly.. its not cute to wear like 27 pounds of eyeliner

There really isn't a correct way to me.
I put a thick line on my eyelid because that's
my style. To me you have your own personal style and that is the correct way
to me.
