Not a clue why you can't just ask and answer questions as you please. Do you win something? That's goofy. Oh well, i can't answer anymore questions. But i could ask one. So there you have it. What's the point of the points?

Hi again,

Forgive me this but it's the only way I could re-connect. TY for the "bests" and "Touche"...smile. I did some research too, and I'm sure you'll "get it"

Now...as for the points, here and on other similar sites, you're correct in your thinking. For some it's a place to learn and/or teach (much as you and I did today, :)...For others it's a way to kill time or gain attention. For some it may be an ego booster? In a general sense it may be a way to kill time, but so often I consider..."Couldn't I be doing something else?"

I personally enjoy it, even with the thumbs down crowd who apparently want to remain ANON. I know what I know, and offer it to others, based on a lot of years of experience. It's opinions, preferences, choices, and decisions here, and I visit when I can.

Regarding some of the inane questions... I usually avoid answering them, though to the asker they may seem quite valid. An example might be, "What color should I paint my room?" There can't possibly be a right or wrong answer to a Q like that.

The POINT,,,since ya brought it up...smiles. Yahoo owns this site among others, supported by sponsers, and dependant on "Hits" That isn't a bad thing, just fact. The more Hits here, the more exposure for Yahoo and sponsers, and possibly a larger base of "Hitters." Points are an "incentive", especially for a newbie to keep coming back...and often lead to a habit, but can lead to the most subtle "Thank you's"; which everyone really enjoys.

Hope to see you involved again soon.

Steven Wolf

BTW do you have a site available to check out the masks? I'd like to chat about that sometime.

There is no point to it. I only gain points so I have more to spend on asking questions. That's the fun part. Sometimes the Q and A are funny or interesting from others, but not very often.

Well sometimes you can get prizes depending on how many points you have accumulated. I got this rubber decal for my car. I think they give out stuff once in a while. So that why I keep answering Q's. :)

pretty pointless, actually, though I did get a little magnet for my car. Just gives you the warm fuzzies and justifies you using up all that otherwise wasted time you could be reading a book, taking a walk, calling a friend....

The point system here drives the urge of the people to answer more.... and ask less
