Why do people gossip?

I hate when people gossip... it is so hurtful

One of two things or both. First to cover up for their own flaws, basically divert the attention from themselves and second its an attempt to make themselves feel better than others. Yes it is very hurtful but as the saying goes what goes around comes around. Eventually they get a taste of their own medicine

because they have nothing better to talk about in their pathetic lives. But like all rumors I hear...I ignore them because 9 times out of 10 they are not true. Another thing I do is stay out of sight, out of mind. If people don't see what I do, then I know I won't be the topic of their miserable discussion, then anything I do hear I can debunk up front and ask them for proof.

Because it's a way to occupy our times. You have to admit it, you gossip too sometimes. Everyone does every once in a while.

I do too, that's why I don't do it. Most people who gossip are insecure with themselves and feel the need to raise their self esteem by talking crap about others behind their back.

They gossip because they are unhappy with themselves, so the spread their emotional poison to others. It is extremely hurtful! Love Yourself!

because they are embaressed with their own lives so they have to make some excuse of how to ruin someone elses lives or make them more interesting. and try to make them look better.
