Probably all of the above. Also what I have noticed is---
unreasonable hatred based on unsubstantiated cliche's repeated over and over.
So fixated they can't seem to see the politicians through the smoke screen!
lack of moral values
I'm sure there are others.
PS. Have you ever watched the TV game show 'Street Smarts?' Same type of low IQ answers. On there they think it's funny. In reality it's just plain SAD!! Apparently the "Dumbing Down Of America" is working.

Because people have no depth or intellectual ability to sensibly and articulately discuss issues of importance, such as politics or the future of our America.
Most of us, on the other hand, could write a deposition about why Paris Hilton should or shouldn't go to jail,or why Anna Nicole Smith died, or why Britney Spears shaved her head.
We are a shallow and uninformed people. To read a newspaper column about the political distress in this country would be boring. Reading about some movie star's illegitimate baby or live-in girlfriend of the month seems to titillate our own libidos, and holds our interest more. The media has accustomed us to the sensational without regard for the sober, significant elements of our life that eventually can - and will - make a difference in the way we are able to live. The drudgery or politics isn't nearly as exhilarating as the sex lives of Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio. Too bad for all of us. -RKO- 05/08/07

Stressing a particular point of view.
I could say it's the impact of food ingredients imported from uncontrolled countries, but I won't.

A lot of the people in politicis are not Americans. And a lot of the "Americans" are not really Americans. They come here because there are Americans here, just like in Iraq. Sadly, a lot of Americans are taken in.
Go travel, Americans, and see what the world is really like.
