Depends on what you want to clean up. For algae, a mix of snails is best because they will eat different types. Turbo and trochus eat the most kinds, so if you're only planning to get a few snails, go with one of these. If you're trying to get rid of a specific type of algae, use this link to first identify the algae, then use the number beside the algae to find (at the bottom of the page) what will eat that type: http://saltcorner.com/sections/guest/algaepage/algaepage.htm
If you want something to clean the gravel, get some nassarius - they burrow into the substrate and you hardly ever see anything more than their "snorkel" - what they use to find food.

I have turbo and astrea snails in my 80 gallon tank, and they have done a great job at keeping things cleaned up. I do have to replace some on occasion due to the fact that my puffer likes to eat them. Try a few different type and stock up on the ones that are right for your tank.

Good Luck.

AquaPod has a 24 gallon nano with a steel halide fixture. you need to maintain maximum corals in that equipment. i think of 12 gallons is on the small edge for an anemone, yet once you guard your water high quality, a small one ought to be ok. Mushroom corals and Zoanthids are ideal for nano aquariums. they're hardy, compact, and are available many distinctive colors. so a techniques as fish bypass, a Yellowhead Jawfish could be a great decision for what you're searching for. i could stay faraway from the Scooter Blenny nonetheless. except you're fortunate adequate to discover one which will devour frozen nutrition, 12 gallons will no longer be large adequate to assist one long-term. They consistently hunt for stay nutrition, like Copepods, which makes up just about all of their weight-alleviation plan. they might right this moment expend the pod inhabitants in an aquarium that small, except you plumb in a separate refugium to reap micro-fauna from. Shrimp Gobies and Pistol Shrimp additionally make an incredible group in a nano. Regards
