Diamonds are better and brighter and more sparkling because of the cuts and the quality..Moreover, Diamond earrings compare to cheaper cubic zirconium, diamonds does not cause sensitive skin to get rashes or itchiness or irritation.

Well, diamonds are such a hard gemstone, they can hold up to everyday wear and tear for an engagement ring. My friend's engagement ring was tanzanite and the gemstone is all cracked and scratched. But I also know of this woman whose engagement ring was a ruby and it's holding up very well.

But it would be naive to say the only reason people like diamonds is because of their durability. "Diamonds are forever," "diamonds are a girls best friend," etc.

For me,it's about context. If you make big bucks and wearing a diamond encrusted rolex and then present a cubic zirconia engagement ring, then that's not right. But if your a normal guy and we're trying to save up to build a house or we're just dating, then bring on the fake rocks. Just don't lie about it.

I would love to get my hand on a diamond, but a cubic zirconium would work. To me, it doesn't matter because it's the thought that counts when receiving a gift from a guy.

You know, I've seen the movie Blood Diamond, now, I'd rather have a pearl, I agree with Zirconium or something (but I like pearls) because that big diamond you're wearing costs someone's leg, arm, wife or life, in Africa they will kill you for a diamond. Thats why I dont like them.

Actually either would be fine with me,as long as the design of the ring is nice. Some cubics are just as pretty/shiny as the diamonds. It's the thought too that counts to me.

Diamonds are a hard gem, that's why they are prized and vauled. For a wedding ring there's no subsitute. In a gift a birth stone or a ruby etc will be a good idea. Just like you want a gold/platinum it has the same rep. If you want to say I mean this forever go real.
