I think D.H. Lawrence Was Right!

Self-Pity

I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself

Self pity is a destructive, pointless, worthless and genuinely problematic state of mind.

Sympathy without action is the same...

Sympathy with a marked attempt to help someone (eg: taking them out to take their mind off it) is a different action, which may have merit!

However always think twice before quoting D.H. Lawrence......haha!

Self-pity should be outlawed. It is one of the most destructive types of thinking that anyone can engage in.

Sympathy is the same. When we feel sympathy for someone this is merely a milder form of pity.

Identification for anxiety is empathy for other and is named pity. Pity directed at self is identification for self's anxiety in absence of anger. It is a sickness of the deceived and bedeviled, a product of mind control in malpractice be it purposeful or of stupidity of an other. The other possibility is absence of gladness for destitution to life value destruction, i.e. lost hope.

As excuse!

Self-pity is excuse for the weak willed
Sympathy is excuse for the weak willed to seek same company

Do something in actions!
