If you want this man to be in the baby's life then you need to really think things through. Sometimes the court can take too much money out of the daddy's check and leave him with nothing to help him pursue his future to become a better person. If you don't care about this guy then just take him to court and take his money. If you care....you can do mediation instead of going to court. You can also just get a notorized letter stating that he'll pay as much as he could afford without leavng him with nothing...have him sign it and get it notorized by a lawyer or someone with authority to do so. This way....you gave him a chance without going to court. If he messes up his chances then you can take him to court. If you want this child to have a father...not only a father but a father that can afford to do things and not be broke all the time then think about my suggestion.

I have a stepson that I was trying to adopt. The court wanted to garnish $400 out of his check when we have to kids together, car payment, mortgage and early childhood learning tuition for my oldest. Not to mention the utility bills and food. I don't work...I am a stay at home mom. Lucky us the baby's mom didn't want to do that to our family so we ended up not going through with court. We did it our way....

This is a very sad situation, and I feel very sorry both for you and your child. If the father refuses to support you, you have no alternative but to take him to court. Once the court ordes child support, he has to do whatever the court instructs, or he faces serious penalties - such as jail.

If he won't do it on his own, you need to take him to court to get a child support order. Your child deserves all the support they can get. You didn't create the baby alone, therefore it's not your job to care for them alone. If he won't step up, the courts will help. Do what's best for your child.

im going threw the same thing right nopw what you need to do is get a court order for shild support and have him served if he denies paternity then there will be an order for a dna test wich shouldnt cost you and after you prove paternity you should be set if he refuses to pay they gov will take it out of his pay check and if he wants nothing to do with your baby after that move on because hes not worthy enoiugh to enjoy your little blessing and good luck

I agree with Michelle. You can't rely on the child's father for the rest of your life. You deffinately need to get an education, so that you can get a descent job and support the both of you. Single parent's do it alone everyday honey.

Take him to court and demand he pay child support. Always report non payments so he can sit in jail. Also you could just forget about him and move on. Your choice.

Take him to court. File for child support. You don't need a lawyer to do it.
