The black skirt is a little longer than knee length and sort of flowy and casual. What kind of shirt or tanktop would work best with it (and what color)? A lot of my tops are flowy camis, so I think that it would be too much with those if that makes any sense!

you should wear a dark, solid, halter.
no flowy tops. the flow should only end up on the dress.

since the skirt is black, you might want to try to wear any pastel colored tank tops. if they had lace on them somewhere, that'll be even better to match the flowy skirt.

i understand this answer will sound like a shaggy dog tale, yet watch the action picture "the devil Wears Prada". i have under no circumstances considered one of those tremendous form of diverse clothing in my existence . there is like 30 diverse females with black skirts on in the action picture. check out the sorts of tops they have on. they'd some tremendous shoes too.

For day wear a white or any pastel coloured short shirt and for night you could wear a close top in silver brocade.
