What a mess! First you need to evaluate your options. Just taking bankruptcy is not always the answer. List all of your bills from smallest to biggest, get a job....any job...just some job that will bring in some money. You have earned terrible credit from not paying your bills. So start changing that. Pay rent or house payment first, then utilities, and food. Any money you have left after that should go to the smallest bill.
Wipe that one out and tackle the rest. It all takes time and effort. You got yourself into this mess, now it is up to you to get yourself out of it. Get going.

see a lawyer YESTERDAY.... Some states bankruptcy laws have become more stringent. You may have to go to a credit counseling course before you apply for bankruptcy protection. Cut out all frivoulous expenditures and write down where every penny goes every month. The lawyers fees can be included in the bankruptcy costs you would pay every month. Good luck.

New BK law effective 10/06 makes it hard to file BK now; must qualify to file! Seek accredited credit counseling and they'll tell you if you qualify without paying tons of money to BK lawyers first. Also, it depends what chapter you're filing too.....

Call one of the credit repair agencies and try to work out a payment plan....lenders will usually lower interest rates and payments if they are faced with the prospect of not getting any of their money back DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FILE BANKRUPTCY until you have tried this and it absolutely does not work, or your credit will be marred for life.
