Lying for 3 years about jobs and college education. Is there hope for a compulsive liar to reform? He would also make up stories to fit in with the crowd. Are there compulsive liars out there that have changed their ways?

I am speaking of my ex-bf who I still love very much. He's admitted he's a compulsive liar and going to counseling and reaching out and making real friends... now that they aren't based on a lie.

Well, I think the way that a liar could possibly reform is if they are caught many many times. Being caught is some sort of way that you can teach them that you know the truth and that you are willing to listen to the truth, if they can say it.
Also, since he is a compulsive liar, you should be able to tell by his body language, etc...when he is lying and when he is telling the truth. You will have to give him the benefit of the doubt, until you catch him again. But a person can only take so much of that in life, that you will never ever trust him.
Lying about jobs and college education alone, will catch up him with him eventually. Look at that dean of one university, twenty some odd years later, she was finally caught and she had to fess up. She didn't get caught until she retired, but still, she was caught. I think that employers may do more of an extensive background check. If they learn of the truth, then it could be hell for the person who told them.
There is luck for reforming, but I think that it is an individual thing, and when they want to grow up and start telling the truth, then it will nip them in the behind.

Most liars tend to lie to make them selves look better than they are........As long as they suffer from form of self esteem issues they will never stop lying......they have to learn how to accept themselves as they are or for what they have done wrong and deal with the consequences, and that is a hard habit to break.

There are several avenues for those who are on the imaginitive side. Art in all its many forms, acting, and of course fictional writing. It is not often the gift that is evil, it is how it is used. With the proper medium he could be very successful.

Unless you admit all of your lies, no.
Once you tell a lie, you have to keep lying to cover it up.
If you're friendship is based on lies you've told, there is no way you can continue that friendship without either confessing or telling more lies.
Sorry =[

There is hope for that person, they just have to start telling the truth and fixing the lies that they have told.
