no, i wouldn't pay $50--but some will.

i would guess that this price will drop to something more agreeable to consumers--but it will take time. right now, i'd be willing to pay $20 for a first run movie at home (movies at my theater cost about $9).

think about the $50 price for a minute tho, for a family of 4. $36 for tickets, more than $20 for refreshments, gas is $3-$4 a gallon for the drive, you've got to leave the comfort of your home, you sit in the theater with a bunch of idiots...

depending on the size of your family and some of the above-mentioned things, this could still work out to be a deal, especially if you had an arrangement with family members or friends to come by your home for viewing. they'd contribute something to the cost, much the same way you might give someone a few bucks on some gas if they give you a lift.

i don't know...this could actually work out in some situations (but don't look at me, i'm single and my place is too small to accommodate both my modest 38" HDTV and too many people).

That is just crazy. I personally like watching movies in the theatre. Even if I didn't, I certainly wouldn't pay an extra $ 20 to $ 40 more to NOT drive a few miles.

And with all the duds out there, this idea won't take off. Maybe 2 movies a year would be worth that price.

: )

That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Going to the theater is one of the most important parts of the movie viewing experience. And it's expensive, but in most cases worth it compared to watching something on the small screen. Now we're looking at a company trying to market movie watching in the home for more than 5 times the theater-going experience? People are really stupid here in the states so I bet it will spread like wildfire.

People's viewing habits are trending this way anyway. With few exceptions (Spider-Man 3), box office is down, as people are watching either pirated versions (and of questionable) of first run films (look how many people ask about where to see movies for free just on THIS site) or waiting for the legitimate DVD to be released at their local Blockbuster.

And home screens and sound systems have gotten bigger and better over the years, and will probably at some point really rival the theater.

So ask yourself this. Will you feel worse going with four friends to the cineplex to see a crappy movie, or will you feel worse seeing it on your home screen (assuming you have a decent one) with the same four friends at the same price? Or will you skip the movies altogether and just watch YouTube clips for free?

I think it would be a good idea for families ... it would save them a lot of money.....

it costs my hubby and I around 30 or 40 bucks to go to the movies.. tickets, popcorn, drinks etc....

I can't imagine how much it would cost for a whole family to go to the movies....

or you and your friends could have a movie night and everyone could help pitch in some money to cover the cost of the movie... and then you can bring your own food etc....

hellz yeah!

if you have kids thats a great idea. when my dad took our family of 6 out he would spend much more than $50 including gassin up the suv and getting popcorn, tickets, and drinks.

even if you dont have kids....

think about it. you pay $50, invite some friends and get your $$ back.
i know im in college and i would RACK UP chargin $5 bucks a head to see the latest movie.

plus u dont have to deal with all the cell-phone chattering teenagers in the theatre opening night....spend the night in the comfort of ur own home with ur family and friends. thas worth $50 to me!

They just offer the option it don't say we have to go.
What about people who cannot make it to a theatre people in weelchairs or people confined to bed I think this is a good
option for them ....Some people are just clueless.
