Its not illegal and even if it was, I highly doubt that anyone would arrest you over it. You mailbox is your property so you can do as you please with it.People leave personal letters in other peoples mail boxes all the time.

I drop the rent check in our landlady's mailbox all the time, no big deal.
It's tampering with mail that's a federal offense.

No, it is illegal to use a federal mail box (which is any mail box) to deliver mail without paying postage. People do it all the time and I've never heard of anyone getting busted for it, but wouldn't you hate to be the first?

Indeed. And if it is somehow illegal, people do it all the time, especially within neighborhoods. Who would want to pay money to have something delivered..when the person lives right next door?
