The score was tied, 5-5. On the 7th pitch of Mookie Wilson's famous (infamous, if you're a Red Sox fan) at bat, Red Sox reliever Bob Stanley threw a ball to the backstop that plated the Mets' 5th run. On the 10th pitch of the at bat the hit rolled through Buckner, with the call by Vin Scully: 'So the winning run is at second base, with two outs, three and two to Mookie Wilson. (A) little roller up along first... behind the bag! It gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight, and the Mets win it!'

The score was 5 to 3 in Boston in the top of the 10th. The Mets rallied in the bottom of the 10th with two outs and scored 3 runs to win 6-5.

It was obvious that it was 5 to 5 prior to the winning run crossing the plate. DUH!

Ray Knight score the winning run from 3rd.

Alas, it was tied, 5-5. Even had the play been made and Wilson put out, the game would have gone to the 11th.

Knight was on second.
