My son ran it out of gas same time watrer pump failed, we added gas, replaced relay and removed gas line located just before the fuel filter and no gas comes out when key is on. Hit tank to maybe re-set or get pump out of bind. Does this Jeep have a safety fuel shut off and if so where is it located and how do you re-set it. If its the fuel pump fine, I just hate to buy one and it not be the problem

thanks.

If he ran it out of gas, he probably fried the pump...newer vehicles with the pumps in the gas tank should never be run dry because they need the fuel to cool them...when you run the tank dry, the pump over-revs and heats up and will stop working. Only way to check is to find the wire harness going to the tank for the pump and test the wires to see if you're getting power to the pump or not. Make sure you have a good ground connection with the ground wire in the harness and test for power on the power wire...if power is there with ignition on, the pump is bad. Sorry for your trouble, Paul

Jeep never had a fuel reset switch only Ford used them. Before you just buy a pump and throw it in spend some time checking things out. Check for powers and grounds to the fuel pump. Believe its not that hard to do on a jeep (long time since I've done one) Get the wiring diagram and see whats what at the pump and test it. It could be something else bad ground bad relay broken wiring or how knows what test before replacing parts could save you a ton of money

Good luck hope I helped
