I can't stand it... all I want is the news... no opinions, no debates. Why every time I turn on the T.V. it is just 2 guys yelling at eachother. Isn't the news just supposed to be news not two political experts ranting at one another?

I agree. It would be nice to hear the news without the commentary. It's all about ratings now. Some people like all the debate drama.

At least when two guys are yelling at each other, you are getting both sides of the story. I am suspicious of news that only tells the story as if it were fact.

Example of a story I saw last week as it aired on two news stations:

CNN- Ten iraqi civilians were killed in a firefight between US forces and two enemy combatants in a marketplace.

Fox- Ten iraqi civilians were killed when a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in a marketplace. US forces in the vicinity opened fire on a second man who accompanied the first when he began firing into the crowd when his bomb failed to detonate.

Now, what do you think killed the civilians, a bomb exploding throwing ball bearings and shrapnal everywhere, or US soldiers firing at a point target? What was the greatest evil?

Lesson: CNN we know leans to the left. Fox leans to the right. It is fulfilling to CNN producers' political agenda to present the facts in a way that made the war look negative. I highly doubt Fox fabricated their facts as they would risk credibility. I just think that by telling the whole story, they were able to shed understanding on the way the situation really occured in an attempt to negate CNN's negative view toward the war.

At least the two guys yelling at each other is obvious. How about selectively reporting scandals by members of one party and not reporting scandals by members of he other party. How about listing an anorexic, cocaine addled model as being one of the most influential people in the world and leaving out the U.S. President (hey even if you think of him as a negative influence, he still affects way more lives than a model or an actor). Pure commentary.

yes. the news hour on pbs has news and commentary. also if you have access to a community access channel you may see news from bbc, dw and even Russia. news broadcasts from europe tend to be heavy on content lite on opinion.

perhaps your best source will be a newspaper (a national paper) i would highly recommend the San Jose Mercury News. the majority of it's news stories are very fact based and in depth.

yeah.... I mean I think that's a by-product of being "over-newsed"

just straight news for hours and hours on 5 different channels gets old... so they started arguing and more people watched...

I like the ap stories online for much of my news... headline news on tv is ok too...

Lol news companies are competing for ratings and this is what they have resorted to. Fox news is the worst for it and are also the most full of sh*t.
