I love writing gloom and doom stories. I would write happy poems and stories
but they just dont make you feel good like a sad plot does.
I mean happy ever after just makes people want to turn off their television set. You can give them a good mystery full of twists and murder plots and they will watch for hours. When the movie is over they will say how much they enjoyed it and now they can get a good nights sleep. It hardly matters that someone was cruel or mean to someone else, thats the way real life is suppose to be, they can still sleep soundly. When its a finaancial disaster movie and someone loses all their money through not fault of their own, people leave feeling like they are a financial genius because their money is still in the bank. Lots of people think the long lost love found movies are wonderful. I think it makes you feel better to know that even though your neighbor's house was wiped off the face of the earth by a tornado, your house remains with minor damage. You can just go out into your front yard look at your distraught neighbor a friend of 20 years and say, boy I am one lucky guy.
So next time one of those feel good, sappy movies comes on and you need a pick me up turn the channel. When you find a movie like the Titanic just sit back and relax and watch it to the end credits. You can conclude once its over that an ocean cruise might be a good vacation plan for next year, after all bad things never happen to good people.

Write a story about how all your friends loooove homework and are fighting over who gets to do the most. Now THAT's satire!

probably one of the best modern day satires is Mel Brooks' "the Producers;" if that doesn't give you an idea of satire, I don't know what will. Good luck

anything you think it stupid would work-you just need to make fun of it. something that might be fun for you would be a satire of a poem. you can look at Devries's take on Marvell's "To His Importune mistress"...saturday night live skits often use satire as well so you can look at that for an example too.
