You are not going to find any subways in Ft Lauderdale. You might be able to pick up some type of shuttle bus to your hotel......some of hotels offer this service.
I would say the best bet, if you can not afford to rent a car, would be to try to get one of these buses if you can, or to get a taxi.
The airport is not that far from the beach from what I remember.......I was down there 6 years ago.

There's no subway in Ft Lauderdale. Plenty of taxis from the airport. If you are staying at a hotel, most have shuttle services from the airport.

There are no subways or good transportation in Ft. Lauderdale. Your best bet is Super Shuttle. Cheaper than a taxi and just as quick.
