let you have an exchange student for a year. i'm 14 and going into 9 grade this year. and last year my mom and i wanted to host an exchange student, but my dad said no because he wanted me and the exchange student to be the same age. so i said okay and he promised me we can host somebody next year. well this is next year and now my mom and i asked him, but he still said no. we asked him why and he is giving us all these lame excuses. like "where is she going to sleep" answer- on my bunkbed. dad-"that's not a good enough bed' and yes it is. what is the real reason why he doesn't want an exchange student for a year? and how can i get him to let us. and he isn't even around most of the week. because of work. he is only home on weekends. so i don't get why he says no.

Colleges LOVE it when you do foreign exchange!!! Explain to him tht you would like to broaden your horizens and learn more about a new culture. Tell him that you will take care of the girl: make food, wash her clothes, enteertain her ect. GOOD LUCK I hope to do foreign exchange!!!!!

Having an exchange student can be lots and lots of fun. But I do think most are about 17 years old and seniors in high school. At least the ones I've been around are.
I think if you wait until high school perhaps your dad will be more willing to have one.

There are a lot of rules that go with hosting an exchange student. Maybe he can't met all of them.

Maybe he's afraid his long lost daughter from his foreign exploits will show up at the door...
Or maybe he's afraid the kid will be some kind of terrorist...
Why don't you go to a foreign country instead?
