I was a level 5 when they celebrated their birthday, and I got a Yahoo ball cap. I don't know if that offer will be made again this year or not. The best I can tell you about collecting points is you strive to get to a level 7. Then you get bragging rights to people who don't know what you are talking about, and couldn't care less. You just challenge yourself, and try to impart your knowledge in a way that will help someone with a question. Everyone knows a little about something. It's fun.

They allow you play on the Yahoo! Answers website longer (in a given day).
I just attained Level 4. I could ask more questions each day or answer dozens.
I consider it to be an educational amusement.

They're about as useful as the points you score on a pinball machine.

Pretty much useless! You can't do anything with them! They might as well not have them!
