Shawn Marion is underrated because he just takes care of business, but does it very well. Some plays that would seem spectacular for other players are routine for him, like fast break alley-oops.

Dear jasmineb,
Although most of the replies here say that Marion is underrated i think most players separate themselves from being role or good players to being great players by what they do in the post-season.
i think Marion needs to perform very well in the post-season to get the recognition. He has gotten eaten up by Lamar Odom the last two years although the Suns have won both series. He has to be able to score versus Bowen and that would be a key difference to carry the Suns over the Spurs.
I think Marion's defensive abilities are underrated- although i don't think Dantoni is making a smart move by putting him on Tony Parker, i think Parker is too quick for him and the Suns should trying using Raja Bell and try to be a little more physical with Parker.

He is possibly the most underrated player in the NBA. The things he does are overlooked because of Nash, Stoudemire, and even Barbosa. Marion plays defense and does all the little intangible things that helps a team win.

Shawn is very underrated. He is one of the best in the league, but there is soooo much success around him people tend to over look him but the opposing teams always keep an eye on The Matrix because they know what he can do to them both offensively and defensively.

Nope, shawn has a great hookshot, he was on the USA olympic team and considered one of the best small forwards of the NBA. The only thing shawn needs to work on is his form, he has a weird shooting form, but he makes it often.

I think he is underrated... and will always be...
He is one of those players that are truly unselfish... he does the dirty work for the team... gets those boards, blocks shots, hustles every play... Every team needs a player like him and because he is on a team with such players as Nash and Amare, he is underrated... but I think he does well in a system like that...

He's a fantastic player, he is a bit overshadowed by his team mates. He's not as flashy, and lacks a little consistency maybe that's why he doesn't get the attention.

yes, S.M. is underrated!.. He can shoot, post-up, and play incredible d-fence... the Suns are still going to lose to San Antonio.(I hate San Antonio; but it's true.)
