hi all,

my problem is, i have a 9800pro and it seems there is a problem with it, or the drivers i'm using.

When i play a game like call of duty 1, the Graphics card starts acting weird, and the map of the game starts merging with its self and i cant see anything, apart from fuzzy random colors.

Its like the card is overheating and cant process anything, it also restarts my computer whilst playing about 2 minutes of the game. The 9800pro it selfs is probably only about 6/7 months old...

ive got the latest drivers installed on it, and the latest motherboard drivers etc...

I had a look on the ATI website but its a bit cruddy for support.

dunno whether the fan is slowly wearing out or what. its a bummer tho cuz i wanna play cod online :D

help me thank u.

Last ati card i had was overheating.

The fan had loads of fluff & crud in it.
If you are careful with a jewellery screwdriver, you can remove the fan.

I did this, cleaned with dry cotton buds then reassembled.
It worked fine for ages after doing this.

Incidentally support from ati.com was good last time i used it!

When you upgraded the drivers did you completely un-install the old drivers?
Then install the new Catalyst driver .
I will give you two sites to check for further help.
You'll need as much specs as possible for your system.
I run a 9800 pro also. I've had great success with this card.
I game for Team ATi. If someone at the site can't find the problem it ain't broke.
Don't be discouraged I'm sure it's a minor issue.
Also, check the link provided foe ATi support. Submit a ticket to Customer Care if you have to. They are very helpful.

ATI used to have good support. Check the site again.

Does the game support the card you have? If not listed look for a patch or e-mail the game mfr and ATI to find out. Some games do have problems with different video cards and there are patches and fixes avaialble for most but you'll have to hunt.

Sound like the card is overheating, if you have a spare case fan, use one to blow directly onto the card and see if this will eliminate the problem as least you can identify it before taking other action.

I don't think this is the problem, but it probably wouldn't hurt to upgrade to the latest version of DirectX if you haven't already. It's free and it should be at

Good luck.

Do you ever think of roughly that the reasons of your problem isn't show driving force itself? it must be motherboard driving force or something else that reason driving force conflicts or device compatibility problem. that's cautioned which you replace your motherboard driving force and device.
