Come on, this is so obvious. Garnett is a great player, but Karl Malone is one of the top 5 forwards in NBA history. His teams always had winning records and made the playoffs, and normally advanced further than the first round! Not so for KG.
In fact, in 2004, when Malone was playing for the Lakers and was 41, he still managed to battle Garnett to a standstill and the Lakers eliminated Minnesota 4 games to 2. Even though Garnett was the regular season MVP that year and Malone was way past his prime!
What more if he faced Garnett in his 30's, when Utah was a 60-win powerhouse in the West and Mailmam was an MVP candidate every year?
Garnett is a much better shotblocker than Malone. They are equal in rebounding. But in scoring (outside or inside), passing, leadership, and durability, Karl Malone has the edge.

Definitely Karl Malone!
Karl was more of a clutch player and all around team player than Garnett. Karl had a comraderie with his teammates that Garnett will never have. The reason Minnesota does so badly is because Garnett cannot get along with anybody and always wants someone traded off the team. He's always pointing fingers and never admitting that sometimes it may actually be his fault when they lose.

Karl Malone. Not even close. The second leading scorer in the history of the NBA. A two time MVP. He's a self made future hall of fame inductee.
Garnett has won only two playoff series in his entire career, and those happened consecutively during the same playoffs!! His play in the post season is only slightly better then that of Tracy McGrady!! Pathetic!!

Hey Jaqq,
i think it depends on who the point guard is. Malone is incredible but i think Stockton has a lot to do with his success. If Malone is without Stockton i would definetly go with KG- i think he is a better defender, and you can run a bit more with KG. i guess a lot of it has to do with the personnel of the team you have and what style you want to play.

KG. Malone had John Stockton for 18 years and still didn't win a championship, if KG had someone like that, he would reapeat as champions many times.
