honestly, i would quit. you shouldnt be working in an enviornment like that. if that was what you went through on your first day at this new job, i dont think its going to get better. i would find another job and a better place. good luck

I think the answer depends on whether or not you need the money. If you need the money then I would try to stick it out a couple more days to see if it gets better. If this is just for extra money and your livelihood doesn't depend on it then quit. But don't be a no show. Go in and tell them why you are leaving. Be to the point by polite so that they can see how they affected you. Either way... maybe you should start looking for another part-time job just in case.

Everyone is right, the food-service business is rough. Sounds to me like you're supposed to be the hostess if you are on the register. That's a different position from a server, so you need to ask your manager.
Also, servers move about like madmen. It may seem like you are being ignored, but stick to him/her like a shadow. They have to manage and memorize many, many things and having someone follow them is just one more thing.
Never sit, stand or lean. If you are clueless about what to do, and have no one to follow, grab a rag and clean some tables, or find a customer who needs drinks refilled [servers will appreciate this]. Or organize the front desk. Soon the manager will notice you and give you something to do.

disorganization or total unprofessional.
Stick it out. Return Saturday maybe the manager was having an off day. Speak up - ask what else you can do, if that doesn't work and you get the same treatment from the manager - speak to someone else above them (if there is one) if not, tell them this is not working and if he then asks tell him why. Good Luck.

I'd do exactly the same. I love my job as a teacher, maybe because I haven't done it for long enough yet. I'm not doing it for the money, so I don't care if my wealth is intact. And I don't want my health if it isn't for doing what I want to do. Not that all I like is my job, of course. But this is a very important part of my day, and I don't want to drop it yet.

Lol, sounds like your the new girl at my restaurant today....but I knwo your not. Either way, the manager is not going to get better, he's demeanor will always be the same, he may be more responsive, but he will still talk down at you. The restaurant business is a difficult thing, you either love it or hate it.

If you are in need of the job, stick it out a little longer.
