I just planted some red cedar in the back yard and want to know about how many feet a year that they are going to grow

They can grow anywhere from 4" to a foot in a growing season. Depends on the light and soil conditions and the surrounding folliage.

I had to look this one up. The book says the red cedar are slow growing, but long lived. I think what the other guy said is accurate.

My experience with them is in Straycat's ballpark. First year the growth will be minimal as they are establishing their root system. Next year will be moderate growth, but the third year's growth should be impressive. If your soil is lacking in nutrients, fertilizer helps, but apply early in season as new growth is just starting.
