I have an 89 Dodge van, 93,000 miles, 318 with 3 spd Automatic transmission and a lock-up torque converter for "overdrive". The overdrive only works intermittently, and when it is working the cruise control will also work. When it is not, the cruise will also not operate. The transmission shifts well and the overdrive converter also seems to work properly when it does engage. Is there a common electrical relay or circut between the converter and the cruise? If so, do you know the name and location? It's not an issue with the brake pedal sensor, that seems to be operating fine. Whatever is causing the problem seems to "decide" what it's going to do at each engine start-up. It could be fine for hours, then you stop the engine and restart it and it doen'st work again until there's been another stop and restart cycle. And, it doesn't reset everytime this way. Thanks

The torque converter locking up has nothing to do with overdrive. Overdrive is just the highest gear. The torque converter will lock and unlock in any gear.
You have an intermittent vacuum leak. The cruise control works on vacuum and the transmission thinks your stomping on the pedal when it senses low vacuum, so it doesn't upshift into overdrive and the torque converter doesn't lock.

The fenders would were replaced earlier you got it. count number the lugbolts on the tires. If there are 5, it really is a a million/2 T body. If there are 8, it really is a three/4 or 1T body. you are able to also take the VIN # to ant vehicle parts keep and performance it go referenced.
