A politician that doesn't get re-elected can't accomplish anything. To survive politically, Republicans HAVE to do something, unless peace breaks out in Iraq. Which is better for Republicans- To cave, and allow themselves to be part of what will happen, with or without them; or to stand firm for what is right, and get voted out of office. Cave and survive, stand firm and lose. Not quite as black and white now. Then, add in the fact that they are human, and can't totally eliminate the urge to do good for themselves- and their families. Govt perks and retirement are a fortune. So, how far SHOULD they go to get re-elected?

What's HClinton nowadays? A whole nation was fooled by the bogus letter, at least some are civil enough to voice their opinions Reps are not clones.

GRT AMER; are you for the North American Union and the fact Americans have had no say in it?
are you for Border Agents being thrown in prison by a 'approved' AGeneral Sutton and dope smugglers being pardoned?
Do you think ME experts who haved lived there are lying when they say US has made a mess of IRAQ and many now are joining AlQueda in protest?
Do you approve of Katrina & Kansas victims not having the material ready with all the money the adm is gouging out of the middle class--while the jobs are dwindling?
To end for now, do you look forward to theNWO that 9/11 has made the path for?

I agree with you.

Hopefully they back up their phony rhetoric with actual votes in the Senate and House for timetables to withdraw out of Iraq and limitations on funding this black Bush-Cheney operation that bleeds the life out of American lives and finances.

I wouldn't listen to anything the repubs have to say about the war. They did their best to silence any dissent from the minority Democrats for six years. They have trampled upon the US Constitution and have made a mockrey out of the common American middle class and poor.

Politicians are supposed to be our elected representatives. They are supposed to represent the will and wishes of the American people. The American people want us to get out of Iraq. If some Republicans are finally figuring out that they represent the people and not the Republican Party or the President, then that’s a very good thing.

I am not so sure so many of them will actually go through with this, it is just to risky to get reelected or with hopes of getting elected President.

That seems that it is all elected leaders ever do anyways.

How many have gone anti-war now?

How many more plan to see the errors of the Bush administration?

I think it's a sham. We KNOW where they stand with Bush on Iraq. They just don't want to get a further ***-kicking by voters in the 2008 elections--like they did last year.

So they're "begging" people to let them stay on--knowing that they won't change course one iota.

Holy hell what is wrong with "Great American"? Nobody wants to read 20 pages of that bullshit.

Politicians will do *anything* to get elected, Republican or Democrat.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest and I'm sure there are some Dems who've done this too.

Always speaks to their character, but not many of them have any character.

Yea it often seems to be that the only principles that politicians deal with are the ones their nannies deal with for them at the private school their kid goes to.

If you believe in something stick to it.

What's pitiful is their past, following the will of an incompetant and lying President and VP.

Yes, they should hold to their principles, not polls, and demand victory.

Did I just say I agree with Chi Guy??? I must be sick, I'm laying down for a while.
