Using voodoo dolls or poppets as they are commonly known is a form of sympathetic magic. Sympathetic magic is when you use an inanimate object to represent something else. This is the same idea as using figurine candles to represent someone. Poppets are effective and best used on yourself for healing, banishing bad habits, attracting something to you, etc. I use them and they are very effective and easy to use.
For the record poppets are not part of the vodou religion. They were used mainly in the practice of hoodoo which is African American folk magic.

The vodou dolls can intensify concentration on a single person, if you have enough things personal to that person as an integral part of the doll. The Vodou effigy is not just for causing pain, it can also be used to help a person.

No he used to be a Jewish messiah consistent with Christians, a prophet of Allah consistent with Muslims (a few Jews do not feel he ever existed, others believe he used to be he used to be simply a different messiah wannabe that failed in his strive and his failure used to be "spiritualised" by means of his fans. According to wikipedia Voodo (that's to mention Haitian Voodoo is founded on a merging of the ideals and practices of a few West African individuals with Roman Catholocism. Again consistent with the identical wiki article it sort of feels up to now to across the 16th century.

Yup, sure do believe in it, even though I prefer to use the pin on the person rather than the doll focus.

They're like just about anything else; they work as well as you make them work. Effigies are common in a number of cultures, it's just that Voudou has the most commonly recognized and compact form.
