The PCI slot is now VERY SLOW for graphics. There is no AGP or PCIe adapter for it because it will just slow down the fast cards.
If you want to enjoy gaming, your only choice is to upgrade to a motherboard w/ PCIe slot. Do NOT get AGP anymore. For the same model of graphics card, the PCIe version is CHEAPER. All NEW cards are designed as PCIe cards. They just put an AGP bridge (extra cost) to make it work in AGP slots.

PCIe is a PCI express. It will not work with a PCI motherboard. You should have a AGP slot on your motherboard. As long as it's not a 486. :)
ATi makes some nice Graphics cards for the money.
I run a X850 Pro- AGP. I can run most modern games.
I.e Far Cry, BattleField 2, COD and on and on.
No problems.

PCIe hardware is backwards compatible with PCI software on the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP operating systems. The PCI features supported by current Windows operating systems will continue to work with PCIe without any need for modifications in the applications, drivers, or operating system; however, the advanced PCIe features will be natively supported only in Windows Vista and later versions of Windows.
However you have to have a PCIe slot for the card.

A PCIe card will not work in a PCI slot. Most PCI motherboards will have an AGP slot and you can easily find AGP cards.

With PCIe, if it fits it might artwork. extra moderen enjoying cards are backwards nicely matched with older interfaces. extra moderen interfaces are backwards nicely matched with older enjoying cards. you would be able to lose some % in FPS and benchmarks via a extra limited quantity of bandwidth from the device to the cardboard, each and each era of PCIe doubles the bandwidth over the previous version employing the comparable quantity of lanes. Edit: That board has a PCIe 2.0 interface. As those enjoying cards won't be in a position to truly saturate that bus you're able to be good to decide for employing them on your device with a minimum quantity of overall performance loss.
