Why the hell are Hispanics called "Latino?"......Latium is the region directly surrounding Roma, Italia......Latin was the Language spoken by the Romans

Romans never set foot in South America or the Caribbean.....Spanish language is not Latin, and it's not even the most conservative descended form of the language

So why are Hispanics now called "Latinos?"

Brock....I don't know where to begin with you....I'm trying not to get irritated, so bear with me....Latium rose WAY THE ***** before Spain in the form of Roma....Italians invented the Latin language that Spanish is based on....Spain never touched Italian unless you count the Visigoths (who were originally from Central Europe and were transplanted in Spain)

Also...no Hispanics would ever refer to me, as the ginny I am, as a Latino ..... I'm sorry, and I'm trying to be civil, but I think everything you just said was retarded

but hey...you are educated....refute me educated Hispanic person

You Need To Brush Up On Your History, Spanish Was Origionated From Spain, The Spaniards Who Would Lay Siege On Countries Devastating The Lands And Inbreeding With The Native Indian Women. Italians Are A Form Of Spanish Descent And Their Spanish Is A Different Dialect, And Hispanics Are Spaniard/Indian Blood, And When You Mix Italian And Hispanic You Get Latino Or Latina.

The Spanish Need To Study Their Cultures Better. And I Am Spanish And Yes Well Educated.

Because Spanish is a Latin based romance language. As well, the term Hispanics comes from the Island of Hispanola, which is no longer called Hispanola. As well, not all Spanish speaking folk are from Hispanola. I do believe the origional Spanish speakers came from...Spain. Once ruled by the Romans, and we come full circle.

Thanks!!

Spanish is derived from Latin, just like French and Italian. They're romance languages. Also, why are Hispanics called "Hispanic"? They're not from Spain.
