Grubby kids aren't like dirty Cars you know! If your Car is dirty, and neglected, People soon start to notice, and talk among themselves, nudging each other every time you park up! But a filthy looking child, with the obligatory bright green ribbon of snot twixt lip and nostril, barely even registers on the Filth Radar. Children are expected to be minging filthy creatures, and being under four, I'm afraid your Daughter is Scientifically proven, (using Science and stuff), to be in the "Dirtiest Mammals" section. There's very little you can do about it. When the smell gets overpowering, and changing her Nappy just isn't having any effect at all, perhaps you could take her out the back, and give her a good hosing down, (great fun in the Summer, but your hands can get frostbitten in the Winter) Or you could kill two birds with one stone, and just tie her to the roof rack, twice a week, when you go to the Carwash. Then she not only gets all the crusty mud, and filth off her, but this wonderful machine shampoos, waxes, and polishes her, until she shines like the Sun. You'll be the envy of all the other Parents, with your shiny, radiant Toddler, and compared to their ugly grimy ratkids she'll be the Girl about whom all the other Parents will say to their own "plain as a pikestaff" Girls, "Why cant you be more like Shiny little ******* at Number **"? She's the cleanest Child we've ever seen!" (I deliberately left her name, and your housenumber blank, because I don't what her name is, or what number you live at)

Kids are a market resource, they have become a economic commidity.
Childhood has been stolen by the the leisure/pleasure industry. Kids are targetted with all the modern technology, fashions modern music.
Also the governments (Prescott's) policy of house building, the profit to be made from the housing industry, means less open sapces for kids to play safe.
Also many area's have restrictions on where kids can play even ball games.
Its a crime and a shame that kids have lost this innocence and freedom.

No - it's not the technology - it's the wackos who kidnap them. I am just starting to let my kid go down the street IF she is with a friend/cousin - whatever. I used to walk and ride my bike all over the place starting at 6 or 7. That has changed. If the kids want to go outside - the parents have to go with them. We take family walks in the evening and an occasional bike ride - but we never let her play in the yard. Hate living my life with fear - but - the consequences could be huge if we lightened up.

You answered your own question, they're all inside sitting on their butts, getting fat and playing playstation or xbox. Why do you think 80% of this world's children are overweight? When I was a kid I was outside playing baseball or with my matchbox cars. We have lost our youth to technology. That's why there's so much violence in schools with all the shootings like VT and Columbine.

Besides modern technology keeping them inside, you have working moms who don't want their children outside unsupervised and lots of pedophiles or perverts lurking around for their prey. Kids aren't even safe in their own yards anymore. It's such a shame. I enjoyed playing outdoors so much as a kid.

I agree with the people saying that this world isn't safe anymore. And frankly if a child is old enough to be on the computer they're probably a little too old to be riding their bikes on Christmas day. Anyway, I wouldn't let my child alone outside if I wasn't with her. It's too dangerous!!

I'm not sure where you live, but where I live most kids do play outside. Most of the parents here limit the time that their children can use computers and video games.

Jeez, the answers posted here make the world sound like a scary place. It ain't that bad. Relax. Kick 'em out regularly. Give 'em a cell phone if it makes you feel better. USE that technology that you're afraid has stolen their childhood. Really, it hasn't stolen anything. It maybe has changed childhood.

Who wants to let their children out side these days. Children aren't as safe as I was when I was a child.
