Even though my father and mother were not born in the united states ( not in the middle east) I do not deserve to be treated as a foreigner

I was born in the united states and I have been living here for 16 years and counting.

I People at my school say things that cause me pain, like: go back to you're country, Go bomb some other country , Iraqi do this that etc.,

They even put on a heavy accent and say things like: I will trade you goat for camel.

(I do not have an accent)

Every day I hope to avoid those racial slurs but I keep on getting them. When we are watching an educational video and someone of brown descent comes up with not the greatest hygiene people make comparisions saying the person looks like me.

I just feel hurt right now because it's been accumulating inside of me for 5
years now. I hope every day that people won't make those comments but it almost always happens daily.

I love a gil at my school but I found oi\ut that she made a racial comment about me . Probably the last knock I could take.

I want to stop anuthing that reminds me of my race such as my parents-always talking in not english, wearing clothing in that culture, foood of that culture, acting in ways if that culture (trying to make friends based on race)
and I hate it. I guess I hate my own race and culture.

You aren't the person at fault here, nor are your parents. It is the racism that runs rampant in our society that puts you and your parents in the position you are in. Unfortunately, Americans are egotists, and think that they are better than any other group, even though if you look at their ancestry, I bet they aren't from North America originally. People use current events as an excuse for racism. Just because you are of Middle-Eastern descent, they want to make a joke and associate you with terrorists, just because the most notable terrorists lately have been "tied" to there. What people fail to realize is that Americans aren't any better than anybody. In World War II we bombed Japan! How are we any better than those who we call terrorists? Don't ever be afraid to express your own culture. Just try to find a friend in the world, and then stick with that person and you will be okay. Ignore the idiots who make jokes about you, and eventually they will stop. Trust me, when the time comes, you will be far better of than them later on in life. Keep your head up and don't worry about your culture, embrace it.

All i have to say is that I am so sorry!!!!! Im so sorry that people treat you that way. When people are ignorant about a situation they take it out on the wrong people. But dont ever say that you hate your race. You are telling yourself and others that you hate yourself to! Trust me high school is hard, but when its over you will realize that the world is not that cruel. if it is that bad then maybe you should tell your principle! i mean that is considered discrimination not just kids being kids. Good luck and remember to love yourself and others will love you back!

These are tough times, for people of other races, religions, and cultures. America is under attack, and people are panicking. Today some of the headlines mention six people caught planning to attack Fort Dix. These people had been in this country for several years, one being a citizen. In their fear of what is happening, people can and will be cruel. Please for your own safety, and the safety of whatever race you are from, do not act out. If you do, you will only foster resentment and fear in others, and the cruelty will continue for others.

See yourself as an individual first. Love yourself for you not your race, you it's a part of you but not all of you. People like to lump things together because of ignorance. Do not let it get the best of you.

you should embrace who u r. i know that is easy to say for a white girl, but not everyone thinks things like that. i got made fun of horribly for being poor. its always something with teenagers. if your not rich, white, thin, smart and beautiful some idiot kid will find something to say. the problem is them, NOT YOU! work hard, get rich and laugh at them when they show up at the highschool reunion with thier fat wives and crappy cars.
