On This Old House, Roger had a chainsaw looking blade with 30ft of rope on each end and a bean bag so he could toss it over a high limb and use the rope to drag the chain back and forth to cut limbs that are too high.

I can 't find one of these. I have tried TSC, Menards, Ace, etc.
Does anyone know for certain where I can find one of these? can I just snip open an old chain saw blade? Thanks.

those stupid blades on an 8ft pole won't go high enough.

Howdy! I have used one of those brilliant rope saws many times. My dad lets me borrow his. He bought it years and years ago out of the back of a magazine, and was complaining that he couldn't find another one.
So I googled it. Just type in 'rope saw'. Lots to choose from. And let me just say, it is a super great tool to have, especially if you have as many trees as I do!
