No we don't.People in this country have forgotten everything this country was founded on. They have forgotten that the people control the government and not the other way around. We buy into their lies and bs and just accept it shrug our shoulders and go about our lives.

you're assuming the yank persons honestly have the flexibility to actual withdraw the troops, etc. we do not. What we are able to do is be very loud and pray our business organization authorized representatives pay interest. The quite purpose is that the Iraq conflict has been in the works in view that a minimum of the early 90s and the persons dependable are unlikely to stop comfortably. and then you've were given the similar old brainwashed persons like "goldenra..." some posts above me who honestly think it really is in our national hobbies no longer to superb be in Iraq in spite of the indisputable fact that to be united states builders. Did you study the socialist/commie/pinko guide or maybe with? Hate to smash it to you in spite of the indisputable fact that united states progression isn't an American applicable neither is it efficient for the yank persons. in spite of the indisputable fact that, in case you're a secure practices contractor, united states progression is tremendous for market.

You're assuming the American people actually have the power to physically withdraw the troops, etc. We don't. What we can do is be very loud and pray our corporate approved representatives listen. The real reason is that the Iraq war has been in the works since at least the early 90s and the people responsible are not going to give up easily. And then you have the typical brainwashed people like "goldenra..." a few posts above me who actually think it is in our national interests to not only be in Iraq but to be nation builders. Did you read the socialist/commie/pinko handbook or something? Hate to break it to you but nation building is not an American ideal nor is it beneficial for the American people. However, if you're a defense contractor, nation building is great for business.

Why are Democrats always depressed?
Some 45% of all Republicans report being very happy, compared with just 30% of Democrats and 29% of independents. This finding has also been around a long time; Republicans have been happier than Democrats every year since the General Social Survey began taking its measurements in 1972. Pew surveys since 1991 also show a partisan gap on happiness; the current 16 percentage point gap is among the largest in Pew surveys, rivaled only by a 17 point gap in February 2003.
Could it be that Republicans are so much happier now because their party controls all the levers of federal power? Not likely. Since 1972, the GOP happiness edge over Democrats has ebbed and flowed in a pattern that appears unrelated to which party is in political power.
For example, Republicans had up to a 10 and 11 percentage point happiness edge over Democrats in various years of both the Carter and Clinton presidencies, and as small as a three and five percentage point edge in various years of the Reagan and first Bush presidencies. Also, we should explain here a bit about how our survey questionnaire was constructed. The question about happiness was posed at the very beginning of the interview, while the question about political affiliation was posed at the back end, along with questions about demographic traits. So respondents were not cued to consider their happiness through the frame of partisan politics. This question is about happiness; it is not a question about happiness with partisan outcomes.
Of course, there's a more obvious explanation for the Republicans' happiness edge. Republicans tend to have more money than Democrats, and -- as we've already discovered -- people who have more money tend to be happier.
But even this explanation only goes so far. If one controls for household income, Republicans still hold a significant edge: that is, poor Republicans are happier than poor Democrats; middle-income Republicans are happier than middle-income Democrats, and rich Republicans are happier than rich Democrats.
Might ideology be the key? It's true that conservatives, who are more likely to be Republican, are happier than liberals, who are more likely to be Democrats. But even controlling for this ideological factor, a significant partisan gap remains. Conservative Republicans are happier than conservative Democrats, and moderate/liberal Republicans are happier than liberal Democrats. Hmmm, what other factors might be at play? Well, there's always...

Its continuing b/c its the right thing to do. And evedentually your not as overhelmingly against it as you think. Seeing how your elected officals cant get 2/3 vote in the house and senate to overturn Bush's veto. Im begging to think that America sees that we really cant pull out now. Failure is something we cant and wont tolerate. As an American i dont want these people on my back for the rest of my and my childrens life. Get them all overwith now set up a stable Democracy in Iraq with Iraqi police and army forces and then leave with a sense of accomplishment. Our men and women that already died, didnt die to wuss out of a war when a couple thousand die. The death toll is nothing compared to Vet. and other wars. Please understand that death comes with war and though the war might of been bad from the start, we are there, we cant leave now so lets get it over with now and then get home rather than leave now and deal with it again 20 years later.

Well as you say Y/A isnt representative of the people in general. And honestly neither are most polls.

So where is your evidence that we are overwhelmingly against it as you put it. I mean you must have some rock solid and plentiful evidence to use a word like overwhelmingly right?

having been a viet nam war pacafist (but i honored the troops, not like the power monger libbers would not do--they would spit at them!), i am so surprised at what i say here, what i've been saying for the past two years.

we are there really to watch iran. the prez may as well just come clean to us. and we are there to protect our oil "interests." we should stop relying on petroleum, and i mean it. look at what venezuelan hugo chavez has gone on to do, and where will he stop? we need to change the way we use energy so we don't have to sop up their oil and tell them that they can just eat the damned stuff.

what we should do, i am humbly ashamed to say, is to bomb the entire region the way the brits bombed dresden. or explode around 6-7 ATOMIC, not thermonuclear, bombs about the size that forced japan to surrender in WWII over areas that are not densely populated with civilians. we should do it before iran has the bomb, the thermonuclear bomb.

Well we voted so now its up to our representatives to guild the direction of our military, in my opinion most Americans count on our representatives after all that's why we voted for them, so we don't have to do it ourselves. As sad as I feel for our children in the military and the common Iraqi and Afghan in war time the sacrifice is tremendous, that we can only hope we voted for the right people to guild us morally & not as profitable venture.
If we take to the streets then we will be viewed as non supportive of our troops "The Vice" If we say nothing bad in public & hang our flag we are view as supportive of our beloved troops "The Loyal"
