Implementing Database Structure Design

You must now implement the database tables that you have designed. While you are creating the database tables take screen shots of each significant stage and paste them into an msn word document.

For example:

Step 1. I opened MS Access and selected blank Access database and then named my file video store database and selected Create.

Step 2. You must give enough detail so that somebody can recreate your database structure by reading your documentation

Once your data table has been created you should illustrate how you created your relationships.

If you found any problems with your design during implementation (with field names, data types, field sizes etc. you should write about them here.

Appropriate use of software

For this task you need to take series of screenshots to provide evidence of your database. Your screen shots should be cropped, formatedand annotated wit the following description. (Three screenshots per page):

I'll give you a tip about the screen shots. print screen to make a PS... paste into paint to crop it. cut it from paint and put it into word.

You need to do the rest. You won't learn that way. I'm sur your teacher isn't that much of a jerk that you can't ask a question. If you can't ask one they are not doing their job... which is TEACH.

A database can run on virtually any computer. Oracle has a lightweight client called Oracle Express Edition that is good to start with. MySQL is another common database. Once you have one of these databases installed the options open up. OracleXE has its own design tools. I mainly use the command prompt for the MySQL instance. SQuirreL is a good piece of software to managed databases. I am obviously about open source and free software. But if you are looking for a larger system. Buying dedicated servers for your database and running a heavy weight Oracle system is always an option.
