okay...i had a field trip today, and we went swimming. i have been getting cramps a lot lately, and i feel bloated, so i wore a pad, not knowing we would be going in the water. i went in, and everything was fine, (i was wearing my clothes, so you couldnt see it like if i was wearing a bathing suit or anything). i felt a little itchy 'down there', so i was a little nervous, because i know you can get yeast infections if youre pad is wet. as soon as i got home i went to the bathroom, and all around the pad was this white, like gelatin stuff. it was SOO wierd. i figured that the pad has something in it and when it got wet it like "leaked" out, but im still freaking out.
please help me!!!!

p.s. any bad answers and ill report you, and please some serious suggestions!

That's the same thing that happens to a baby's diaper when it gets wet with water - it's just the absorbant gel let loose a bit. Not to worry.

Golly - must have looked like fish eggs! LOL! Sorry you were freaked out.

The white gelatin stuff is the material in the pad that soaks up the blood. dont worry hun when it got wet some stuff just leaked out. You probably just felt itchy because you were wet and had a pad on... im pretty sure you didnt get an infection. If you still feel itchy or feel like anything else is wrong in a few more days call the doctor but im sure you will be fine. dont worry!

I'm assuming that since you wore a pad you were thinking that you were going to start your period. That would explain why you feel crampy and are bloated. Many pads now have a substance in it that "traps" moisture which could be the gel like substance that you found. If you are not having symptoms that are unusual for you, I would not worry about it. If you are still "freaking out" why don't you take a new pad, soak it in water for a while, then take it out of the water again to see what happens. You might see the substance again and not on you, so you feel better about it. Next time you get in the water, why not try a tampon. This will avoid any problems.

It sounds like the pad just overabsorbed the water and expoded sort of. Inside there is a powdery substance that absorbs the wetness, and looks like a white gelatin if it absorbs water. It probably just came out. Maybe the itching was from the substance getting on your skin, instead of being under the lining like it usually is. I wouldn't worry unless you get a repeat performance, when you aren't swimming. By the way can I say how jealous I am that your swimming already. It is still chilly here!

The gelatin like substance was from the pad. Don't worry!!! I see you didn't know you would be going into the water but just in case there is a next time, use tampons because a pad will NOT help you in the water or don't go in the water :)).

lol, this is too cute. I can understand how scared you must be. A yeast infection can be the reason, but it shouldn't just show up after swimming. Like a Diaper, pads have gel in them, so that they will absorb the liquid. Your privates are very sensitive area's and it might have just been irritated, from the water build up and the gel.

Don't worry too much. Talk to your mom and tell her what happened, she may be able to help you out more.

I think you will be alright, not sure how old you are but next time take a few tampons with you, that is better for swimming and being in water then pads plus pads won't really help you at all in the water but tampons will. (Not try to be cruel or mean at all by this answer neither just to let you know, just tell you the truth!)

I have never gotten a pad really wet or anything before so i am not sure bout that but ido know that nappies when they get really wet they can sort of break and inside is all this like little jelly crystals its what absorbes the moisture. maybe its same thing, why dont you get another pad and put it in water see if thats what it is.

Ok seriously it was a bad idea to wear a pad in the water but you'll be ok. . . .the white gelatinous stuff is well a gelatinous stuff they usually put in the pads to make it absorbant, a chemical reagent. just wash the area carefully. its ok and you'll be fine, it aint yeast so dont get worried and its nothing dangerous so chill out. . . .

Honey, it was nothing but the pad. Diapers have something similar. It is what is inside the pad that whisks away moisture and odor. Don't worry.(This is WHY it is always good to bring a tampon JUST IN CASE-altho' that is only if YOU DO have your period)
It was just from the pad. I can understand why it would freak you out, tho.
Chin up!
