Can we get accurate measurment for running if we use yahoomaps, googlemaps, and mapquest, etc.....

Possibly for short trips, but those map programs will use highways and freeways that pedestrians are not allowed on. One would have to check the route to make sure one can follow it.

Actual city maps (by Rann McNalley, the U.S.G.S, etc) are accurate, provided you follow the route exactly when you go for your jog. However, you would be better off using a pedometer to measure your personal distance; especially if you are detoured or jogging in place at stop lights.

On-line maps may be less accurate because we do not know how much rounding on the distances the program uses. Most programs will go to tenths of a mile, but you want to know more to the thousandths if possible. Besides the distances would only be true if you followed the exact route Mapquest (or whoever) sets out.

a mile is a unit of measure that does not change, 5280 feet. just like an inch is always the same, or a meter. Ever heard of using an atlas?

I asked the best way to Paris from NY, NY and it told me to swim over the Atlantic ocean.... It was Google though. Mebe Yahoo will be better. Dunno about the car/jogging thing.
