I hate to differ with popular opinion here. But the fact is that ebay uses your account info for 2 reasons. First they use it to verify your address and make sure you are who you say you are. Second they use it to make sure that your checking account that your using to verify your identity is active. in order for it to be considered active they will debit between 90cents and 2$. (ebay will explain this when you sign up). They will ask you to verify the exact amount, which they use as a random number to confirm that you have access to that account, verifying that you are who you say you are.
Therefore if your account is negative your bank will decline the debit and then ebay cannot confirm your identity.
its best just to get it into the positive just for the verification.
(now the rest of the answers are correct. once you have been verifies your account can go negative and ebay doesn't care. you can choose to get your fees taken out of your paypal and theoretically you might never need to use your checking account again.
Good Luck!
I love ebay (I buy and sell!)

Hello

Most sales and buy records are made via Pay Pal.

Pay Pal have the right to refuse credit to an account in the negative balance.

Pay Pal may contact you requesting certain details however I feel Pay Pal will refuse credit transaction to an account that has negative values.

Note that Ebay charge a small selling free, which must be paid prior to the item being listed. If you can not afford this charge then you can not list an item for sale. This is regardless of method of payment.

All the best
Y!

you opt to document a record with ebay and paypal to boot. call ebay and paypal to boot and talk to someone. Sorry to say in spite of the indisputable fact that it appears like this guy became out to screw you acceptable from the starting up.

to sign up to eBay you need a fixed address, and land line telephone, as it does a verify check over the telephone!

to sign u to pay pal, you just need to enter your account details and they will deposit two small amount, into bank and then you have to send the two deposit back once your statement comes!

so no you can be in negative and still open a eBay or pay pal account!

Well, they aren't going to check the amount of money you have, all they want is your actual account information...so if someone buys something from you, the money can go into paypal, and then you can request it to go in to your bank account..believe me, I have had the same thing happen MANY times lol....good luck with it!

You should just be able to give them a credit card number. They will charge it every month for your selling fees.
