firstly i would ask WHY,,,???,,
Have you got an address to go to,
if not don't go,,, if yes try to find someone who will not try to rip you off,, You must learn very quickly how to say NO to all that try to get you to part with money or goods,
you can get anything at all in London from the smallest thing to the sublime ridiculous, watch your back watch your wallet and be cautious of people who you do not know who want to do you favour
you don't need much to survive what you have in two bags will be enough for a Short while
Good Luck

London is a very modern yet historic city. It is not shitty from my experience. If I were you, I would visit first and decide for yourself. It is a city for singles or couples but in Central London is mostly apartments or flats, so it might not be the best place to raise a family. But if your going alone, with a boyfriend, or a friend, it is a beautiful clean and organized city. But decide for yourself. I hope this helps! But it also depends which part of London. Central London is beautiful and wonderful and some parts are kind of shitty. It is expensive too so if you do end up moving, you'll need alot of money.

London is extremely expensive so bring two bags full of money. It does help.

Apart from that all you need is the basic clothes. Don't do like a friend of mine from Italy who came over here for a week with five suit cases full of smart suits ,shirts and elegant ties only to spend the week wearing the same blue jeans when he realised that nobody here gave two hoots of how he was dressed. The beauty of London is that people don't pay much attention to appearances.

Many Londoners dream of being able to relocate to the US - anywhere - north, south, east, west, it don't matter. Anywhere in the US is better than living in London. To answer your question, you will need accommodation (expensive), food (expensive) and transportation (expensive) and don't leave your two bags unattended anywhere. If you need a cab, use only the black cabs that have meter. The service in a London McDonalds is pathetically slow compared to the service in an American McDonalds

Money. London is expensive. We have a fair sized group of youngish Americans living in London these days (reverse colonisation) and after a while you'll adapt.
